ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

The parliament of Republic of Cyprus calls upon international community to recognize the Armenian Genocide on the occasion of its102nd anniversary.

Swiss Court dismissed the last objections concerning the Armenian Genocide monument that is planned to be built in Geneva.

Municipality of Cologne approved the proposal for installing a memorial in the memory of the victims of Armenian Genocide.

Zoryan Institute issued a response to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who suggested “a joint comission” after the decisions that have been made in France and Denmark concerning 1915.

It is claimed that two lawyers have illegally used the compensation gained in a class-action lawsuit over survivor benefits from the Armenian genocide. State Bar of California launched an investigation.

“The Social, Cultural and Economic History of Van and the Region” conference organized by Hrant Dink Foundation was held in Anarad Hığutyun building on November 11 and 12. We talked to Dr. Yektan Türkyılmaz, who was the keynote speaker of the conference, about Van's importance in Armenian and Ottoman history.

Richard Hovhannisian, who is a prominent figure in Armenian historiography, came to Istanbul for attending “The Social Cultural and Economic History of Van and the Region 1850-1930” conference organized by Hrant Dink Foundation. We talked to him about his recently-published book and his studies on the genocide.

Prof. Dr. Niyazi Kızılyürek is an internationally acknowledged expert on the Cyprus question and currently works in University of Cyprus. Kızılyürek is also known for his activism on the both sides of the island, his contributions to the efforts of confrontation and struggle for peace and reconciliation. We talked to Niyazi Kızılyürek about the recent situation in Cyprus, by way of his new book (“A History of Resentment and Violence: Fight for Status and Ethnic Conflict in Cyprus”) published in Turkey.
