MOSUL OPERATION

Amnesty International stated that Iraqi security forces and US-led military coalition haven't taken adequate precautions for protecting civilians during the offensive to recapture the city of Mosul from ISIS and violated international law.

Lawyer Erkan Metin is contact with the region and following the developments closely. We talked to him about Syriacs' role in the Mosul operation, the current situation and the criticism in the statement of Platform Turbadin (Syriac Intellectuals and Activists Discussion Group).

According to the statement of Turkish Minister of Defense Fikri Işık, Turkey and coalition forces have agreed on Turkey's participation in Mosul operation with its aerial equipment.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi spoke about Turkey: "We warn them not to dare to violate Iraq's sovereignty."

After the Mosul operation is launched in this morning, Turkish authorities started to make their first statements. While President Erdoğan stated that Turkey will be involved both in the operation and negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş said that Turkey has Plan B and C for Mosul.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stated that the operation for retaking the city back from ISIS has been launched.
