Agos' archive: Kırıkhan Church is confiscated

Today, in Agos' archive, there is the story of Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Armenian Church that is affiliated to Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople. In 1998, it was confiscated by the General Directorate of Foundations.

Kırıkhan Church is confiscated*

On November 22, two officials from the Regional Directorate of Foundations went to Abbut Mardikyan, chairman of the church foundation, and served a notice declaring that the church is now a fused foundation.

General Directorate of Foundations confiscated Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Armenian Church that is affiliated to Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople on the grounds that the congregants of the church are not residents of Kırıkhan and the church doesn’t perform charity or actual service. On November 22, two officials from the Regional Directorate of Foundations went to Abbut Mardikyan, chairman of the church foundation, and served a notice declaring that the church is now a fused foundation. All the documents of the foundation were handed to these officials by the chairman of the foundation with an official record.
