Compensation approved in Dink case

Ministry of Interior will pay compensation to Dink family because of neglect of duty.

While the case and investigation on the murder of Agos’s editor-in-chief Hrant Dink continue, the Council of State approved the action for compensation of Dink family. Ministry of Interior will pay compensation to Dink family because of neglect of duty.

Yervant Dink and Hasrof Dink filed an action for compensation on the ground that the Ministry of Interior neglected its duties. On October 27, 2010, Istanbul 10th Administrative Court, after ECHR ruling that found Turkey guilty for not protecting Dink’s life, decided that the Ministry of Interior to pay 100.000 liras compensation.

The Ministry took the case to the Council of State for appeal. However, the Council upheld the decision of the court unanimously.
