Sabri Uzun claims he didn't know about the intelligence reports

Statements are started to be taken as part of the lawsuit that was opened against public officials who have responsibility in Hrant Dink's murder. Former Chief of Istanbul Intelligence Branch Sabri Uzun, who were in office at the time of the murder, gave a statement in Ankara 2nd High Penal Court upon the order of İstanbul 14th High Penal Court. Uzun claimed that he wasn't informed about the intelligence reports that contains information about the plans for murdering Hrant Dink.

Uzun is charged with official misconduct and tried with the request of 1 year of prison sentence. On the hearing held on March 14, Uzun claimed that he wasn't informed about the intelligence reports that contains information about the plans for murdering Hrant Dink.

Uzun spoke at the hearing as the following: “I am charged with official misconduct on the grounds that there was information about Hrant Dink murder in F4 report and I hadn't done the necessary about this report. This is the claim. An F4 reports is this: our personnel reports the information they have received to our officers and those officers write down that information as it is. However, I didn't know about the F4 report that was sent from Trabzon on February 17, 2006.”

Claiming that he later found the mentioned report through his own means, Uzun said that the report doesn't contain any information about the murder.

Sabri Uzun served as the Chief of Security General Directorate Intelligence Branch for 3 times during different periods. He was in office until March 22, 2006. On 17 February 2006, a report informing that Yasin Hayal incites hatred against Armenians and he plans to do something to Hrant Dink was sent to the Intelligence Branch. He was the chief at the time. 

In addition to the mentioned F4 report, various reports and warnings about Dink were received during his time in the office. There had been protests against Dink in front of the court house and Agos during his trials. Many news reports and articles against Dink were issued. Those protests had been monitored by Istanbul Security Directorate and reported to all security units.
