348 votes in favor of the plan to lift the parliamentary immunity

AKP-initiated constitutional amendment for changing the Article 83 on the immunity of MPs is supported by 348 lawmakers in the 550-seat Turkish parliament. Second round of voting will be held on Friday.

The General Assembly came together yesterday for discussing the constitutional amendment concerning Article 83, which was proposed by AKP. 536 MPs participated in the secret ballot yesterday and 348 lawmakers in the 550-seat parliament backed the plan to lift MPs' immunity from prosecution.

Given the fact that a minimum of 330 votes are needed in the second round, similar results on Friday would pave the way for referendum. Minimum of 367 votes are needed for passing the amendment directly.

667 dossiers against the lawmakers have been sent to the parliament for now. With 405 dossiers, HDP is the party with the most lawmakers having charges against them. Total of lawmakers who have a dossier against them is 138.
