Andean Community recognizes the Armenian Genocide

The Andean Parliament, formed by Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia, unanimously passed the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

According to asbarez, presented by Ecuadorian deputy Pedro De la Cruz, the resolution was passed on September 17. 

In the resolution, it is stated that Ottoman authorities perpetrated mass killings against Armenian people between 1915 and 1923 and killed more than 1,5 million.

The parliament condemned the crimes against humanity and urged the international community to recognize the Armenian Genocide as a historical fact.

Community members Chile and Bolivia had previously recognized the Armenian Genocide.
