HDP decides to rejoin parliamentary work

HDP had decided to withdraw from parliamentary committees after the co-chairs and 7 MPs of the party were arrested on November 6. HDP Spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen announced that they have changed their mind and they will take part in the committees once again.

HDP Spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen spoke at the party group meeting and announced that HDP will take part in the parliamentary committees. He said, “We are here for now and we will participate in the parliamentary works whether you like it or not.”

HDP had decided to withdraw from the committees after he co-chairs and 7 MPs of the party had been arrested on November 6.

Bilgen also talked about the bill on the sexual abuse against children. “We are happy that the bill has been withdrawn, but it is not enough.”

HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ's message on the bill was also read during the meeting: “I respectfully greet the united efforts for preventing the bill that pardons sexual abuse. If believing in a life of equality in the face of the ones who praise rape is a crime, we would continue to commit this crime.”
