The eternal chair of Diyarbakir Bar Association, human rights defender and lawyer Tahir Elçi was commemorated in Istanbul on the first anniversary of his murder.

Before the trial of public officials, Friends of Hrant was in front to the court house as always, demanding justice. They once again expressed their demand of justice both for Hrant Dink and Tahir Elçi.

It has been almost a year since lawyer Tahir Elçi was murdered. He was the chair of Diyarbakir Bar Association and a human rights defender who devoted his life to solving the unidentified murders. The investigation file was issued months after the murder and the investigating prosecutor of the case had been changed for 3 times. Still, there is no progress in the investigation.

The expert report about Diyarbakir Bar Association Chair Tahir Elçi, who was shot dead, is prepared 5 months after the murder. In the report, it is stated that it cannot be “medically or physically” known who shot Elçi.

Diyarbakir Bar Association turned to prosecution, since there was no proper crime scene investigation, the police officers who were shooting are still on duty and there is no suspect in the investigation file.

HDP's group deputy chairman İdris Baluken demanded a parliamentary investigation on the murder of Tahir Elçi.

Murdered on Saturday, Tahir Elçi was bidded farewall yesterday. During the farewell ceremony, his wife Türkan Elçi said: “Victims of unidentified murders will welcome him.”

Co-mayor of Diyarbakir confirmed Elçi’s death on Twitter. It is informed that he shot in the head with a single bullet.

Diyarbakır Bar President Tahir Elçi is released by the court to which he was taken with an arrest warrant.
