Dink murder: first arrest in gendarmerie

As part of the investigation on Hrant Dink murder, 27 people, including officers from gendarmerie forces, are detained. Abdullah Dinç, an officer from Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command Intelligence Branch, is arrested.

The investigation on the murder of Agos founder Hrant Dink has been accelerated since the coup attempt on July 15. As part of the investigation, 27 people, including officers from gendarmerie forces, are detained.

Abdullah Dinç and Yavuz Bozca, officers from Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command Intelligence Branch, were referred to the court with the demand of arrest. While Dinç is arrested, Bozca is released with judicial control decision.

Kökçü: Dink murder is the first bullet

Investigating prosecutor Gökalp Kökçü, in the petition that he's sent to the court for demand of arrest, defined Dink murder as “the first bullet of the process that led to the coup attempt on July 15.”

Journalist Gün is detained

Taken into custody as part of investigation on the attempted coup, journalist Ercan Gün is detained as part of Dink murder investigation.

After July 15, 27 people have been detained as part of Dink murder investigation.

Public officials, who have allegedly have a hand in Dink murder, have been standing trial. The next hearing will start on August 8.
