HDP MPs Konca and Demirel arrested

HDP MP Besime Konca and group deputy chairperson Çağlar Demirel were arrested yesterday. HDP Siirt MP Besime Konca had been released, but she was detained again upon the objection by prosecution and then arrested.

Konca went to Diyarbakir for following the trial of HDP MP Çağlar Demiral, who was also detained. Konca was detained again in the court house.

Presenting her statement once again, the court ruled to arrest Konca on charges of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” and “making propaganda for a terrorist organization”.

With the arrest of Konca and Demirel, the number of arrested HDP MPs has risen to 12. Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, group deputy chairperson İdris Baluken, MPs Leyla Birlik, Selma Irmak, Nursel Aydoğan, Gülser Yıldırım, Ferhat Encü and Abdullah Zeydan were arrested on November 4. HDP Hakkari MP Nihat Akdoğan was arrested on November 7.

Warrant against 8 MPs

Diyarbakir 2nd Penal Court had issued warrant against HDP MPs Osman Baydemir, Dirayet Taşdemir, Çağlar Demirel, Selma Irmak, Ahmet Yıldırım, Besime Konca, Alican Önlü ve Nadir Yıldırım. They have been tried as part of KCK main case.
