AP and Reuters: ISIS claimed the Reina attack

AP and Reuters reported that ISIS claimed the responsibility for the armed attack in Reina during New Year celebration in Istanbul.

ISIS claimed the responsibility for the armed attack in the night club called Reina in Istanbul. 39 people were killed.

This morning, Reuters and Associated Press (AP) reported that ISIS claimed the attack with a written statement.

According to the news reports, ISIS defined Turkey as “the guardian of Christians” and stated that that “the attacks with continue as long as Turkey's military operations don't stop”.

Istanbul Governor's Office announced that 46 people who were wounded are currently being treated in different hospitals.

39 people were killed and 65 people were wounded in the attack.

25 of the killed were foreigners, 11 were Turkish citizens and 1 was a dual citizen of Belgium and Turkey.

The attacker is on the run and the operation launched for catching the fugitive attacker continues. The attacker is yet to be identified.
