New emergency decree: 4,464 public servants sacked

Last night, a new state of emergency decree was issued and 4,464 public servants have been sacked.

With the recent decree, 2,585 people from Ministry of Education, 49 people from Ministry of Interior, 417 people from General Directorate of Security and 893 people from Gendarmerie Command have been sacked. 

A total of 4,464 people have been sacked and 17 people have been reinstated. 

Prominent academics have been sacked

330 academics are dismissed with the new decree. 

With the previous decree, 4 academics from Ankara University Department of Communication had been sacked. With the recent decree, further 11 academics from the same department are sacked, including Nur Betül Çelik, Mine Gencel Bek, Funda Başaran Özdemir, Funda Şenol Cantek, Ülkü Doğanay.

Ahmet Haşim Köse, Murat Sevinç, Pınar Ecevitoğlu, Gökçen Alpkaya, İlhan Uzgel, Murat Sevinç from Ankara University School of Political Sciences are dismissed. 

Constitutional Law Professor İbrahim Kaboğlu, who signed the declaration of Academics for Peace, is also dismissed. Assist. Prof. Meral Camcı was imprisoned because she signed the declaration and she is also dismissed with the recent decree. 

From Marmara University, Yüksel Taşkın and Baran Alp Uncu are dismissed.
