No matter how much we write about Palestine, it will never be enough, because what is happening there is a pilot project not merely for our own region but for the future of the entire planet. The tyrants of this world seem to have sworn to use power at their disposal openly against peoples and countries they dislike, do not want, or demonize, going so far as to seek their total annihilation. And this tyranny is not merely military; irreversible destruction of nature is also part of the equation.
The worldwide shift toward the far right is one of the indispensable steps in putting this scheme into operation. Israel’s Zionist-fascist government is using every means at its disposal to support the far right, which it has declared its ally in every corner of the world, despite its structurally antisemitic nature. In Europe, the United States, and South America, it can be considered to have achieved its aims. This perverse alliance has now become the “new normal” and the political arm of total annihilation and extinction. Artificial intelligence, endless arms buildup, neoliberal delusion, and the manipulation and control of the masses are the other arms.
Returning to Palestine, the Jewish State’s campaign of annihilation has entered a new phase. It appears that two parallel schemes are underway. Thanks to the indifference and/or complicity of almost everyone, particularly in the West, a horrific campaign of siege and harassment continues in Gaza, with the aim of ending life there and forcing Gazans to abandon their land.
In the West Bank, meanwhile, thanks to the same indifference and complicity, 800,000 settlers, armed colonists, the overwhelming majority of whom originate from the West, have launched an offensive, with the direct support of Tsahal, the world’s most immoral army, to make life unbearable for four million Palestinians. Their aim is to seize the land and Judaize it by forcing Arabs to flee.
On February 16, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights warned that ethnic cleansing could be taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories. Since October 7, 2023, more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis in the West Bank; approximately 41,000 Palestinians have also been forcibly displaced. The architect of this scheme is Israel’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, a Ukrainian-born Jew and war criminal.
The latest report by another UN specialized agency, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), warns that Palestinian territories are experiencing an unprecedented economic crisis due to the total destruction in Gaza and increasing restrictions in the West Bank. According to the report, national income is projected to remain 20% below its 2022 level.
The forced settlement of colonists in the occupied territories has torn the West Bank apart, making uninterrupted travel no longer possible. As access to land and natural resources rapidly diminishes, forced displacement continues to increase. Since 2023, 38 Palestinian villages have been completely emptied of their inhabitants. The growing number of checkpoints is seriously disrupting trade and employment. Due to financial difficulties, schools have been forced to limit in-person education to three days a week.
As the Jewish State does not transfer the billions of dollars in customs and tax revenues it collects to the Palestinian Authority, it constrains public expenditure to a corresponding degree.
While the West Bank faces institutional gridlock, the fact that 92% of businesses in Gaza have been damaged or completely destroyed amounts to total economic collapse.
After shrinking by 83% in 2024, Gaza’s national income grew by 34.2% in 2025. However, this increase reflects a statistical recovery from an economic base that had shrunk to an extreme degree. Indeed, Gaza’s per capita national income stands at $212, equivalent to approximately $0.58 per person for a day. Since October 7, 2023, hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs, and total labor income has suffered losses of approximately $2.8 billion. The unemployment rate has reached 78%. Gaza’s share of the Palestinian economy fell from 17.4% before October 2023 to less than 4% in 2025. Output has declined by 94% in agriculture and industry and by 100% in construction. At least $71.5 billion will be needed to recover and rebuild Gaza.
At the same time as the UNCTAD report, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights published a list of 214 companies operating unlawfully in the occupied Palestinian territories. Although the list consists predominantly of Israeli companies, Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, Motorola, and TripAdvisor are also making money from the West Bank. Keep that in mind…
It is possible to foresee that the Israeli elections on the 27th will produce no beneficial outcome and that, consequently, the pilot project in mass annihilation will continue.
