Composer, arranger, and pianist Ari Aliciyan has presented listeners with the album Khachatur Avetisyan — A Centenary Tribute | 1926–2026, prepared in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Khachatur Avetisyan, one of the prominent composers of Armenian music.
Taking a new approach to Avetisyan’s musical legacy, the album brings together Ari Aliciyan (piano), Marianna Gevorgyan (qanun), Sercan Halili (classical kemenche), Altuğ Öncü (oud), and Sevan Inyapan (qanun).
A tribute to a musical legacy
The eight-piece album features the artists’ original interpretations, bringing together the distinctive timbres of piano, qanun, oud, and classical kemenche. While reinterpreting Avetisyan’s compositions, the project also offers a different perspective on the composer’s musical legacy.
The album also includes an original composition by Ari Aliciyan, titled Romance for Khachatur Avetisyan, dedicated to the composer.
Born in 1926, Khachatur Avetisyan is commemorated through this album marking his centenary. The project serves as a tribute to his music and the legacy he left behind.
