March 8, International Women's Day, is being celebrated all over the world and throughout Turkey. However, the Istanbul Governor’s Office once again closed Taksim Square to women without providing any justifiable grounds. Women, unable to enter Taksim Square which was surrounded by barricades, gathered in nearby Sıraselviler. As women dispersed at the end of the march, police detained six individuals.

The March 8 Feminist Night March coordination announced the call for this year's Feminist Night March via its social media account. In the statement regarding the event, which will take place for the 24th time this year, women and LGBTI+ individuals were invited to gather at 7:30 PM on the evening of March 8.
