Let us do our jobs
In Turkey, where journalists are detained and arrested simply for doing their jobs, news websites are blocked, and trustees are appointed to television channels, repression targets not only press freedom but also the public’s right to access information. Today, the sea is even rougher, the water so murky that the bottom is nowhere to be seen. They want to darken this sea and leave us all in the dark. We have no lifebuoy other than solidarity, struggle and doing our jobs.

Comedian Tuba Ulu, who is being tried on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" over a joke she made about Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and faces up to three years in prison, appeared before the judge for the second time. The judge granted additional time for the defense and adjourned the hearing until July 14 at 11:00 a.m.
