A masterpiece of Soviet modernism
Hrazdan Stadium and Qrchi Bazaar (Քրջի բազար)
This colossal 70,000 seat mass of brutalist concrete, where the echoes of glorious football victories and some of the greatest diplomatic maneuvers in recent history once resounded, now hosts one of the saddest collective memories of the past every Sunday. Known as “Qrchi Bazaar,” this flea market has become an open-air museum stretching back to the dark 1990s, when, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, people put their household possessions and memories up for sale simply to survive.
