Independent Armenia turns 35
High level celebration in Istanbul after nine years
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, an official reception was held in Istanbul on Wednesday, October 14. Hosted by Nairi Petrosyan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), the Armenia Independence Day celebration was held for the first time after a nine-year break. Turkey was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Berris Ekinci. With Ekinci’s attendance, participation at this level in Turkey-Armenia relations took place for the first time. Following the speeches, the national anthems of Turkey and Armenia were played one after another.
