19th Athletics Festival hosted by Kalfayan

The festival, held on June 17 at the Ataköy Athletics Hall, was attended by Kalfayan Orphanage Foundation President Tamar Karasu Mayoghlu and members of the board, Oruncakciel's daughter Markrit Atmaca, and teachers. The festival, coordinated by Kalfayan School Physical Education Teacher Hakan Günartan, has traditionally brought together Armenian primary and middle schools every year. On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the school's founding, the Kalfayan administration also invited Armenian high schools to participate this year. Sponsored by Oruncakciel's daughter, Markrit Atmaca, the athletics festival saw students competing enthusiastically to win medals. While medals were awarded to students who placed in different age groups and disciplines, all participants also received a special commemorative medal. At the end of the festival, school principal Tamar Nergis said that the event was organized to encourage students to engage in sports and that she was pleased it had become a tradition.
