The third cohort of the HDV Minority Rights Academy, whose first cohort was completed in 2024, will be held in person in Istanbul at the Hrant Dink Foundation Anarad Hığutyun Building from October 23-26, 2026.
Those wishing to participate in the Academy must complete the application form in full and submit it by September 6, 2026. The results will be communicated to applicants by email by September 23, 2026.
The program will consist of two stages. In the first stage, there will be four days of in-person learning, while in the second stage, there will be two online meetings held on separate days. Although the program will be conducted mostly in Turkish, simultaneous interpretation will be provided for seminars in English.
The Academy's curriculum will cover the definition and transformation of the concept of minorities, international and national legislation concerning minorities, the political history of minorities in Türkiye and problems encountered in practice regarding minority rights, comparative studies from different countries, and advocacy. The Academy, whose seminars will be structured around four main pillars—conceptual framework, historical background, comparative politics, and advocacy—will feature experts from different countries.
Who can participate in the Academy?
People interested in minority rights and advocacy and wishing to work in this field are expected to apply to the program, while priority will be given to civil society workers, academics, lawyers, media and public-sector employees who have worked on minority rights, as well as members of minority groups. Participants are expected to have at least a bachelor's degree and to know Turkish.
