Richard Giragosian, director of the independent think tank Regional Studies Center (RSC), based in Armenia, was hospitalized after becoming ill in Istanbul last week, where he had traveled for a meeting. It was learned that Giragosian had suffered a brain hemorrhage.
Giragosian is currently receiving intensive care at Okmeydanı Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu Hospital and remains under sedation. It will become clear in the coming days whether the brain hemorrhage has caused any lasting damage.
Giragosian, who has also occasionally contributed articles to Agos, is an analyst whose views are frequently sought on regional issues. Armenia’s representation to the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Istanbul is also following Giragosian’s condition.
As Agos, we wish Giragosian a speedy and full recovery.
