Armenia Becomes an Official Member of the Peace Council
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who was among those invited to the Peace Council an initiative Donald Trump claims to have established and will lead to end the war in Gaza has signed the membership agreement in Davos. The Council will be responsible for the implementation of the 20-point peace plan proposed by Trump to end the conflict in Gaza.

Pashinyan: We must build bridges on the Türkiye-Armenia border
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, touching upon relations with Türkiye at a conference he attended yesterday, stated, "The situation we are currently in is truly incredible and almost unimaginably positive." Emphasizing "concrete steps," Pashinyan said that relations with Azerbaijan are also developing faster than even Azerbaijan expected.

DOUBLE MESSAGE FROM PAPIKYAN
"We will not enter an arms race; we will encourage women to join the army"
Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan emphasized that Yerevan does not aim to enter an arms race with Azerbaijan, though the modernization of the military will continue. Touching upon the role of women in the military, Papikyan stated that the biggest obstacles to participation are "pressure from fathers, husbands, and social circles."

Prime Minister Pashinyan and 10 Bishops Announce "Roadmap"
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and 10 bishops have signed a joint declaration initiating a comprehensive reform process within the Armenian Apostolic Church. The declaration, which criticizes the current church administration for serving political agendas, outlines a concrete "roadmap" and the establishment of a Coordination Council to return the church to its spiritual mission.

Ara Malikian’s Violin Set to Resound in Yerevan
Lebanese-Armenian virtuoso Ara Malikian, considered one of the world's best violinists, is preparing to return to Yerevan for a highly anticipated concert as part of his "Intruso World Tour." The concert will take place on February 15 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan. The world-famous artist's Turkey concert, scheduled for 2022, was canceled due to security reasons.

Becoming Aram: The Formative Years of a Revolutionary Statesman (1879-1908)
If you had told Aram Manoukian on March 6, 1908, that within a decade he would successfully lead the defense of Van against the Ottoman military, save tens of thousands of Armenians from imminent murder, become the temporary governor of Van after the withdrawal of the Turkish forces, and then emerge as the founder of the First Armenian Republic as Tsarist Russia faltered, he probably would have had a good laugh. After all, that day seemed to usher in the end of Aram’s life as a free man—if not his life altogether—as Turkish policemen and soldiers dragged him out of a 30-foot-deep well where he was hiding with fellow revolutionaries, and escorted the lot of them to the military commander’s residence, where they were interrogated, photographed, and sent to solitary confinement.

“Bread bringer” activist dies
Artur Sargsyan, who took food to the police station in Yerevan that was raided by the members of “Sasna Tsrer” (Daredevils of Sassoun) on July 17, died. Sarsgyan was kept in prison for months despite his serious medical condition.

Peace Trail across Caucasus
3000 kilometers along the Caucasus mountains, three countries and a long way passing through them... Transcaucasian Trail Association (TCTA), a Washington-based initiative, embarked to build one of the longest hiking routes in the world. The association is working with local partners for this hiking route, which is planned to pass through Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. They want to improve ecotourism, create an exciting route for the hikers and provide a different perspective to Caucasus countries which seem like they will never come to terms because of the border conflicts. Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement on Pope Francis' visit
Turkish Foreign Ministry released a condemnation statement concerning Pope Francis' visit to Armenia and statements that he made during that visit. The ministry claimed that the Pope committed religious discrimination and argued that this visit “doesn't contribute to the peace and stability in Southern Caucasus.”
