Historian Taner Akçam reveals another document of critical importance. In the telegram sent by III. Army Commander Mahmut Kamil Paşa to the regions from where Armenians had been deported, it was stated that the houses of the ones who hide Armenians will be burned.

No measure for protecting the monastery from treasure hunters
The latest target of treasure hunters is Surp Dırtad Monastery in Doğanköy (Tortan) village of Erzincan. Locals are at a loss, since authorities don’t do anything despite their complaints about increasing attacks by treasure hunters.

The people who put black wreath in front of Agos on April 24, 2015 and made threatening statements were acquitted. The Court of Appeals reverse the decision of acquittal on the ground that the statement incite hatred and enmity.

Today is May 3, World Press Freedom Day. In Turkey, where crackdown on media is increasing day by day, 159 journalists are currently in jail and almost 2,500 journalists are unemployed. Press organizations from Turkey and other countries released solidarity messages on the occasion of May 3.

European Commissioner Johannes Hahn, who oversees EU membership bids, spoke to Reuters about Turkey during EU Foreign Ministers Meeting. Stating that “Turkey's EU dream is over for now", Hahn said that a new model based on "trade and security ties" is being discussed.

Deciphered telegram reveals the genocide
Historian Taner Akçam decpihred the telegram by executive of Teşikilat-ı Mahsusa (Secret Organization) and Commitee of Union and Progress Bahaettin Şakir dated July 4, 1915. The telegram is about coordination of deportation and annihilation of Armenians. The letterhead on the telegram proves that it is indeed original.

OSCE: the SBE issued instructions undermining an important safeguard and contradicting the law
OSCE released the preliminary report on the referendum in Turkey based on the findings of international observers, who state that the referendum was held in an unlevel playing field and did not live up to Council of Europe standards. Refugees in Izmir take shelter in temporary camp area
In Torbalı district of Izmir, a fight erupted between locals and Syrian refugees. Locals burned the tents of the refugees, who are now settled in a temporary camp area. İmece Initiative Association supplied basic daily needs to 17 families who had to leave their living area.
