Churches in Istanbul met on “Christianity with its Basic Principles”
On October 15, Fener Rum Orthodox Patriarchate, under the leadership of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, hosted a meaningful meeting with the participation of the representatives from all churches. The ideal athlete: Smart, agile and not Armenian
The Genocide Museum in Yerevan hosted an exhibition that is titled “Armenian Sport and Gymnastics in the Ottoman Empire”. The museum director Hayk Demoyan, who wrote a book bearing the same title with the exhibition, and 80-years-old grandson of Shavarsh Qrisian, who were issuing Marmnamarz magazine during Ottoman period and exiled to Ayash in 1915, attended the opening of the exhibition. Alin Ozinian, by way of this exhibition, observes how the Armenians’ contribution to the sports culture of these lands was excluded from the official history and she makes room for a reckoning that is related to remembrance, oblivion and forgiveness.

Armenian community to open new school building in Istanbul
The Bakırköy district had housed one small school built over 170 years ago by Ottoman Armenian notable Hovhannes Dadyan. "Moving to a new building after 171 years makes us all happy,” Surp Asdvadzadzin Church Foundation head Mesut Özdemir said.

The ceremony at the Akhtamar is cancelled
The ceremony that was planned to be conducted on September 6 in The Church of the Holy Cross on Akhtamar Island is cancelled due to security concerns. Many people from Armenia and Armenian Diaspora was expected to attend the ceremony that has been conducted since 2011.

32 trees planted at Kamp Armen in memory of Suruç victims
On 25 July Saturday, the victims of the Suruç massacre were commemorated at Kamp Armen, as the vigil to protect the camp enters its 3rd month. Kamp Armen Solidarity planted sycamore trees in memory of the 32 murdered members of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF).

Kamp Armen still not returned, 2nd rally on Friday evening at Tünel
52 days have now passed since the resistance began at Kamp Armen on May 6 after bulldozers entered the camp in Tuzla to demolish the facilities. Despite promises made by the government and municipality, the deed has still not been returned to the Armenian community.

Kamp Armen’s return postponed to after the election
Despite repeated promises for the return of Kamp Armen, the official handover has not taken place yet. The current owner of the camp, Fatih Ulusoy, has stated that the procedures are continuing, and that the return will take place next week. The postponement of the return of the camp to after the election has increased concern, and calls have been made for the immediate finalization of the process.

12 Dersim Armenians baptized to complete return to their identity
Following a six-month course of church doctrine and basic knowledge of Christian belief, 12 more Dersim Armenians took their first step back to Christianity with a collective baptism ceremony. Two married couples also held religious engagement ceremonies following the baptism ceremony held on 9 May 2015, Saturday at the Yeşilköy Surp Istepanos Church.

Tuzla Camp: Return of camp deed demanded
While reactions to the demolition of Camp Armen mount, and the vigil at the camp site against demolition continues, attempts for a solution have also begun. The matter is on the government’s agenda, and AKP parliamentary candidate Markar Esayan has stated that he has spoken with Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on the issue, and that has work towards a solution has begun. The Armenian community is hopeful yet cautious. The demand is not for expropriation but for the return of the camp deed to the Church Foundation.

The solidarity vigil that began at Kamp Armen (Tuzla Children’s Camp) after heavy machinery entered the site continued all day and through the night.
