The International Hrant Dink Award Ceremony will be held tonight

Today is the 61st birthday of Hrant Dink. The 7th of the International Hrant Dink Award, which is presented every year on September 15 in memory of Hrant Dink, will be presented in Istanbul Convention Center tonight.

The 7th International Hrant Dink Award Ceremony will start at 20.00. Ceylan Ertem and Eileen Khatchadourian, who performed in “In Memoriam | April 24” concert with many other artists, will be performing and then the winners of the awards will be announced.

Baskın Oran, Gerard Libaridian, Kenneth Roth, Kumi Naidoo, Mary Kaldor, Oya Baydar, Rakel Dink, and last year’s laureates Angie Zelter and Şebnem Korur Fincancı will be in the jury.

Every year, the award is presented to two people, groups or institutions (one from inside and one from outside Turkey,) that work for a world free of discrimination, racism, and violence, that take personal risks for their ideals, break the routine, use the language of peace and inspire and encourage others while doing these things.

With this award, Hrant Dink Foundation intends to remind to all those who struggle for these ideals that their voices are heard, their work is visible and that they are not alone, and also to encourage everyone to fight for their ideals.

Alper Görmüş, Amira Hass, the Conscientious Objection Movement of Turkey, Baltasar Garzón, Ahmet Altan, Lydia Cacho, İsmail Beşikçi, International MEMORIAL Society, Nataša Kandić, Saturday Mothers / People, Şebnem Korur Fincancı and Angie Zelter are the former laureates of the International Hrant Dink Award.
