“Armenian Genocide resolution” in Egyptian parliament

According to Anadolu Agency's report based on sources from Egyptian parliament, Deputy Mustafa Bekri has presented the resolution to Parliamentary Speaker Ali Abdel-Al. 337 deputies has signed the resolution.

The resolution states that Egyptian parliament should recognize what happened to Ottoman Armenians during 1915-1922 as genocide and urges the international community to do the same. 

Absolute majority is needed in order to pass the resolution. According to Anadolu Agency, pro-Sisi “Support Egypt” coalition has got the support of more than 380 deputies. There are 596 deputies in Egyptian parliament.
