HDP stated that no news can be received from Xerabê Bava (Kuruköy) village of Nusaybin district in Mardin, since the declaration of curfew in Nusaybin on February 11. HDP also noted that they demand information from reliable sources concerning the claims of torture and extrajudicial killings.
HDP
Central Executive Committee, in a written statement, reported that
they cannot get in touch with the people in Xerabê Bava village
because phone and electric network has been cut.
On
February 11, curfew was declared in
Xerabê Bava (Kuruköy) village of Nusaybin district in Mardin.
Allegedly, 3 people have been killed, 39 people have been detained
and the detained people are tortured. These claims cannot be
confirmed, since the village is blockaded and no news can be
received.
Stating that images
and footage from the village, which are “taken by the soldiers”,
are very bleak, HDP stated: “There are reports claiming that phones
of the villagers have been collected and all people in the village
are kept in a house, subjected to torture and abuses and some of them
are killed with torture.”
The committee is not allowed
It is stated that the MPs who wanted to enter the village were not allowed yesterday: “The fact that our committee that wanted to investigate the claims was not allowed indicates that the claims are probably true.”
It is stated that what is happening reminds of events of '90s: “If these claims are true, then there is an inhumane situation in the village. What we know from '90s and what happened in the last 2 years aggravates our concerns.”
Statement from Mardin Governor's Office
Yesterday, Mardin Governor's Office made a statement. It is stated that there have been operations in villages of Nusaybin, Ömerli and Artuklu districts for 7 days. It is also noted that 2 PKK guerrillas have been killed.
