No justice for Diana

Diana Nahabedyan was killed by her husband in Armenia 3 years ago and the murder trial is ended. Murder suspect Volodya Muradyan is sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison, because of unjust provocation abatement.

3 years ago, Volodya Muradyan killed his wife Diana Nahabedyan in their houses in Ararat region in front of her two children.

Nahabedyan's daughters woke up at 4 in the morning and saw that Muradyan is beating their mother and killing her by stabbing 21 times. Muradyan also attacked the older daughter who went to police station. The neighbors hadn't responded to the girls' call for help.

Muradyan was supposed to be sentenced to 6 to 12 years in prison according to the article 104 of Armenian Penal Code because of willful murder.

Muradyan's sentence was aggravated at first because of “atrocious murder” and he began to stand trial with the request of 12 to 20 years of prison sentence. However, on June 2015, he presented a petition to the court requesting an abatement because he committed murder with the suspicion of infidelity.

On the last hearing, the court accepted the petition considering the psychological evaluation of Muradyan and his sentence is reduced to 4 years.

Being under arrest for 3 years, Muradyan will be released 6 months later.
