President Erdoğan withdraws all lawsuits, with the exception of HDP

Erdoğan's lawyer Hüseyin Aydın announced that the lawsuits against HDP won't be withdrawn.

After President Erdoğan stated that he will withdraw all lawsuits for libels and forgive the offenders for once only, his lawyer Hüseyin Aydın dropped the lawsuits against CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli. Aydın stated that the lawsuits against HDP won't be withdrawn.

According to Gizem Karakış from Hürriyet Newspaper, in the 2-paged petition sent to Ankara 9th Civil Court of First Instance, it is stated that Erdoğan withdrew the lawsuits with the hope and wish of coming to the common grounds nationally, strengthening the national unity and solidarity and establishing grace in politics permanently.

Arrested suspects will be released

Aydın stated: “After the political party leaders, we will withdraw some suits for libel and penal actions today. We know that there are about 5 arrested people. However, we are working for finding out the total number of arrests. I think that the suspects will be released after the withdrawal. Penal actions might continue as public action despite the withdrawal. However, there are more penal actions than the suits for libel.”

The dossiers against MPs are suspended

“Previously, there were suits for libel against deputies, but nothing could be done because of immunity. There are almost 65 immunity suits. With the lifting of immunity, they were planned to be processed. However, because of the coup attempt, the dossiers are suspended. We will also withdraw those suits. I think that the lawsuit launched in Germany will also be withdrawn.”
