ISIS attacks on Easter: Assyrian Village Church bombed

The attack on the church took place this morning (April 6).

Syria’s official news agency SANA has announced that ISIS militants have demolished the Church of Virgin Mary in the Assyrian Village Tel Nasri.

The Tel Nasri village is in the Hasakah province in the northeast of Syria.

Local sources report that ISIS placed explosives in the church before the attack that took place on Easter.

Built in 1934, the Church of Virgin Mary was one of the three churches in the Tel Nasri village.

The SANA News Agency did not report whether there were any deaths or injuries.

ISIS previously attacked 35 Assyrian villages around the Khabur River, taking 373 Assyrians hostages, later releasing 23. There is no information at present on the condition of the remaining hostages.
