Bekçiyan, who will meet with Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II in Armenia, will attend Supreme Spiritual Council with Vehapar Karekin II that will convene in Moscow.

Değabah Archbishop Karekin Bekçiyan continue his meetings abroad. Bekçiyan, who will meet with Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II in Armenia, will attend Supreme Spiritual Council with Vehapar Karekin II that will convene in Moscow. Bekçiyan stated that the process of patriarchal election will be discussed in the meeting in Moscow.

Bekçiyan spoke to Agos:

“I will be in Armenia this week. Next week, I will go to Moscow to attend Supreme Spiritual Council. I will be representing both Patriarchate of Istanbul and and Germany as the religious leader of Armenians in Germany. The letters from Etchmiadzin address me both as Armenian Primate of Germany and Değabah of Patriarchate of Istanbul. On May 10, I will be in Armenia. Then, on May 15, I will attend the meeting in Moscow. When I am in Armenia, I will meet with Vehapar and inform him about some issues. Moscow meeting's main agenda will be the developments in Istanbul.”

Supreme Spiritual Council generally convenes in Etchmiadzin, but in recent years, it has been held in different countries. It is one of routine meetings of Armenian Church. Led by Catholicos of All Armenians, the meetings also have two session heads. These heads are generally elected patriarchs of Jerusalem and Istanbul. Given that Bekçiyan is invited as the representative of Istanbul, it is expected that Archbishop Ateşyan won't be there.
