Santoro's murderer released

The murderer of Priest Andrea Santoro, who was murdered in the Santa Maria Church in Trabzon where he served, is released.

On February 5, 2006, Oğuzhan Akdin murdered Priest Andrea Santoro in the Santa Maria Church in Trabzon where he served. Sentenced to 18 years and 10 months in prison, Akdin is released on probation.

In 2011, Akdin was transferred to Akçaabat semi-open prison upon his application to the Ministry of Justice. However, on July 20, 2012, Akdin escaped from the prison, but got caught after 30 minutes. Then, he was sent to a closed prison.

During Akyürek's office

Ramazan Akyürek, who is currently under arrest on the charge of omission in Hrant Dink murder, was serving as Trabzon Provincial Police Chief at the time of Santoro murder. On May 8, 2006, he was assigned to Police Intelligence Department.
